Upgrade to Adobe Reader and Acrobat 8.1

June 16th, 2007

On about June 10th 2007, Adobe released Acrobat and Reader 8.1 which fixed most of the bugs in rich-media playback on the Mac and on the PC. It was a very important day for me because the rich-media in the book now worked the same on a Mac and on a PC. But remember, not everyone has upgraded to 8.1 so be cautious about your end user. They will most likely only have Adobe Reader 6 which will only support Audio and Video.
I suggest that you insert the flash files into your document, but put up a warning message that the user will have to upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader 8.1 or later to play it back.
